Your day-wise itinerary
01Day 1: Kolkata to Phuentsholing (By Flight & Road)
Your Bhutan adventure begins with arrival at Kolkata. From there, you'll take a flight to Bagdogra or travel by road to the India-Bhutan border town of Jaigaon. After completing immigration formalities at the Bhutan border, proceed to Phuentsholing. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and relax. In the evening, you can explore the local market. Overnight stay in Phuentsholing.
02Day 2: Phuentsholing to Thimphu (175 km / 5-6 hours)
After breakfast, depart for Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The journey offers stunning views of the Himalayan foothills and passes through the beautiful Paro Valley. Upon arrival in Thimphu, check in at your hotel. In the evening, you can explore the local market and the main street of Thimphu. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
03Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Thimphu. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Point (Buddha Dordenma statue), Takin Preserve, Folk Heritage Museum, and the Traditional Painting School. You'll also visit the Tashichho Dzong, the beautiful medieval fortress that serves as the government headquarters. In the evening, explore the Thimphu Craft Bazaar for souvenirs. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
04Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha (75 km / 2-3 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Punakha, crossing the Dochula Pass (3,100m) which offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range on a clear day. The pass is also known for the 108 chortens (stupas) built in memory of Bhutanese soldiers. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Also visit the Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility. Overnight stay in Punakha.
05Day 5: Punakha to Paro (125 km / 3-4 hours)
After breakfast, drive to Paro. Upon arrival, visit the National Museum (Ta Dzong), which houses a collection of Bhutanese art, artifacts, thangka paintings, and natural history. Then visit the Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), one of the most impressive and well-known dzongs in Bhutan. In the evening, explore the main street and market area of Paro. Overnight stay in Paro.
06Day 6: Paro to Kolkata (By Road & Flight)
Early morning, hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), which clings to a cliff 900m above the Paro Valley. The hike takes about 2-3 hours one way and offers stunning views. After the hike, return to your hotel for checkout. Drive back to Phuentsholing or directly to Bagdogra for your flight to Kolkata. Your memorable Bhutan tour concludes with fond memories to cherish for a lifetime.
