Ahmedabad is one of the easiest starting points for a multi-destination Gujarat Tour. The route toward Dwarka, Somnath and Gir gradually changes from urban Gujarat to the Saurashtra coast and then to forest landscapes, which makes it particularly rewarding for first-time visitors.
Why this route works
Dwarka should normally come before Somnath. Jamnagar is a useful stop on the approach, while Porbandar falls naturally between Dwarka and Somnath. Gir then connects easily from the Somnath side. Add Diu only when you have enough time for a relaxed coastal night.
Suggested 7-day route
Day 1 – Ahmedabad
Visit Sabarmati Ashram, Adalaj Stepwell and the Riverfront after arrival.
Day 2 – Ahmedabad to Dwarka
Travel through Saurashtra. Stop in Jamnagar when timings allow and reach Dwarka for evening darshan.
Day 3 – Dwarka
Cover Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Gopi Talav and Rukmini Temple.
Day 4 – Dwarka to Somnath
Visit Porbandar en route and reach Somnath before the evening temple visit.
Day 5 – Somnath to Gir
Visit Bhalka Tirth and Triveni Sangam, then continue to Gir.
Day 6 – Gir safari and onward
Use a pre-booked safari slot. Afterwards continue to Diu, Junagadh or Rajkot according to your route.
Day 7 – Return
Return toward Ahmedabad or depart from Rajkot if transport timings make a point-to-point route easier.
