Treat driving times as estimates and distinguish them from the complete transfer day. Meals, traffic, stops, queues and hotel formalities all affect when you can begin the next activity.
Read the day from checkout to check-in
An itinerary may show a road journey of several hours while overlooking packing, loading, a meal break and arrival formalities. Ask when the group is expected to leave the room and when it can realistically settle into the next hotel. That gives a more useful picture of the day than distance alone.
Avoid solving delays by removing every break
A workable schedule has enough room to absorb ordinary changes. If the day only succeeds when nobody stops for lunch, the route is too tight for most leisure trips. Choose fewer optional visits or add time. Keep important booked activities away from the end of a transfer with no margin.
Before you book
- Separate driving from total travel time
- Include meals and hotel formalities
- Protect a buffer before fixed bookings
A common question
Should the operator guarantee an arrival time?
Some services require a target time, but road conditions cannot be promised. Ask for a realistic schedule and a contingency plan. A precise-looking timetable is not the same as a reliable one.
