Treat market shopping in Gujarat as time to explore and make considered choices. Decide what you want to spend, ask clear questions about materials and avoid letting a hurried shopping stop become the most expensive part of the day.
Look closely before comparing prices
Two items that appear similar may differ in material, finish and how they were made. Ask the seller to explain those differences and check the piece you intend to take home. If provenance or a particular technique is important to you, request useful supporting information. A confident sales description alone is not independent verification of an item's origin.
Think about getting it home
Consider size, weight, care and packing before buying. For anything shipped separately, obtain a written invoice and agree the delivery address, shipping charge and process for damage or non-delivery. Keep photographs of the item and receipt. Small purchases can be memorable too; there is no need to buy something simply because the itinerary includes a shopping stop.
Before you book
- Set a spending limit
- Check materials and condition
- Keep receipts and delivery details
A common question
Should I expect to bargain at every shop?
No. Some shops use fixed prices, while others may discuss the amount. Ask politely about the price and decide whether it represents value to you. You can decline a purchase without turning the conversation into a contest.
